Commonwealth Edison (ComEd), large demand project applicants (Rider DE)

Large-load tariff for data centers: what is on file, the terms the filings state, and where each fact comes from. Terms a filing does not state are marked, never guessed.

StatusApproved  Last reviewed 2026-03-30
Applies atProjected maximum kilowatts delivered of 50 MW or more before December of the 10th year after the requested service date
What the filing saysLarge demand project applicants must post a deposit for analysis and engineering costs: $1,000,000, plus $500,000 for each additional whole 100 MW above 200 MW. Deposits above $2,000,000 require an acceptable letter of credit for the excess. Subject to the ICC investigation in dockets 25-0677/25-0679. SEPARATELY, not a ComEd/utility matter: Gov. Pritzker directed the Dept. of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) to pause processing new agreements under the state's Data Center Investment Program (a state tax-incentive program, not a utility interconnection process) effective July 1, 2026 -- announced June 5, 2026, framed as part of a 2-year incentive suspension pending legislative study of cost/environmental impact. Existing agreements signed before July 1, 2026 are honored; this does not affect ComEd's Rider DE process above.
