Massachusetts (MA) data center power coverage
Real, sourced large-load tariff and interconnection research on file for Massachusetts — never inferred, never scraped, never implied beyond what's actually been checked.
Large-load tariffs
Massachusetts electric distribution companies (Eversource/NSTAR, National Grid, Unitil) -- state directive, no tariff yet
ThresholdNo tariff threshold yet; policy threshold is above 25 MW peak demand
StatusExecutive Order 658 (Sept 8, 2026) requires data centers above 25 MW peak to procure new clean generation matching annual consumption, and the DPU is to develop large-load rate schedules so other ratepayers do not fund data-center distribution upgrades. On Sept 24, 2026 the DPU directed the utilities to file reports on queued load projects above 25 MW and on all data-center projects above 1 MW (a reporting threshold, not a tariff). No tariff text or docket was found.

Interconnection & regulatory guidance
Massachusetts — statewide community-benefits requirement (Executive Order 658)
Contact guidanceBefore any MA utility contact: as of 2026-10-08, Gov. Healey's Executive Order 658 (Sept 8, 2026) directs state permitting agencies not to issue permits for a covered data center project without a qualifying community benefits agreement -- a state-level gate on top of whatever utility serves the site.
ThresholdApplies to a data center (new or expansion) exceeding 25 MW of peak electric demand.
ProcessApplicants must execute a community benefits agreement with key stakeholders, aligned with the Office of Environmental Justice and Equity's Standards and Guidelines for Community Benefits Plans and Agreements, before state permitting agencies will issue a permit or authorization for the project. MassDEP must establish an alternative compliance mechanism by Dec 31, 2026 (not yet in effect as of this research); annual reporting begins Sept 2027. Separately, Gov. Healey had already paused the state's 20-year data-center sales/use tax exemption (June 2026), tied to her broader 'Mass Wins' economic package, held until 'protections exist against higher utility bills' -- no fixed end date found for that pause either.
